Staff

Here’s a list of our editorial staff who will occasionally feature in written form on the blogs:

Helena Hand-Cartt - recently qualified, our general news reporter and socialite who looks after our gossip page (Tea-Time Girl). Daughter of Lord and Lady Hand-Cartt (from somewhere in Cornwall), Helena is a game girl who is slumming it hereabouts until she lands a job on a toff’s mag or marries a City banker. Very good at country shows.

Hugh Janus - chief political and social affairs writer, being the nephew of our local political matriarch and guest blogger Laura Norder gives Hugh an inside line on all the moving and shaking that goes on. A bad writer, he enjoys winding readers up simply because he can. Also dabbles in crime, but we try not to dwell on his activities away from the newsroom.

Denzil Dapp - former bantamweight boxer, Denzil’s career as a professional sportsman gives him an empathy with the athletes he writes about. Hates football, rugby, cricket, tennis, golf, indeed all sports apart from boxing. Originally from Cwmfelinfach in the Welsh valleys area, he relocated to the Midlands in his early 20s after being chased out of his home town for throwing a fight against an Englishman called Cecil.

Bob Bastud – ageing photographer, far more accomplished at scaring old ladies and small children than he is with a camera. Prefers to use his box brownie and black and white film, only uses digital when paid to do so by the editor. Has never taken a decent photograph in his life and never intends to. Has chronic body odour issues and most enjoys attending fashion shoots and A-Level results day at the local girls’ college.

  • Acting Editor’s Notelet:

I hate music in all its shapes and forms. It actually factually irritates me greatly – both my skin and my sensibilities.

Whilst there is breath left in my body and blood left in my drains, none of the staff on The Shouty Villager will indulge music.

I trust that clarifies our editorial standpoint?
